About Us

CodeSLO started out in 2014 as a social group for programming enthusiasts and evolved into a community coding school unique to the Central Coast. As of 2017 we’ve taught well over one hundred classes in the San Luis Obispo area as well as several workshops for local schools. We’ve never charged a dime for any of them. Quincy Larson, the founder of Free Code Camp, once described us as the “best grassroots coding effort in the world.”

Our classes are led by software engineers, web developers, and other local tech professionals and incorporate some of the best online resources available. We hold these classes in facilities provided by our sponsors, allowing us to create an ideal learning environment for coders who don’t mind working hard to pick up skills vital in today’s economy.

Our students come from all walks of life and we’ll teach anyone who wants to learn. Check out our Meetup Page for information on our classes and give us a like on Facebook for more news and announcements. Our classes are open to both adults and teens.

We’re also always looking for more mentors so, if you’re a professional developer and you want to help those new to the field in an encouraging and upbeat way, please let us know.
